Do you recognise this man? We are releasing an E-fit in connection with a historic assault from 2019.
On Saturday 25 May 2019, a teenager left a party in Westhall Road, Warlingham, at around 11:30pm, but as she waited outside to be collected by her mother she was approached and sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
A considerable amount of investigative work was done at the time including forensic examination, house to house enquiries, CCTV checks and public appeals but to date the man remains unidentified.
The victim, who is now six years older, continues to have flashbacks to the night of the assault and has now been able to provide a further description of the man enabling officers to put together an E-fit which we are releasing today.
Detective Constable Nikki Deadman said: “This was a serious offence and despite the passage of time, we are determined to leave no stone unturned in our enquiries. The victim has now been able to provide us with a more detailed description of the offender and therefore we are releasing an E-fit.
"If anyone recognises the person in this image or has any information which could be linked to this incident, please contact us by calling 101 or online quoting ref. 45190054475.”
A man is currently in custody after we were called at approximately 9.40pm on 25th November to reports of an altercation between a group of people on Limpsfield Road near Warlingham Green.
Officers attended with support from the dog unit and located the victim who had been stabbed. He was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has been discharged.
A 22-year-old man from Croydon was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, possession of a knife / bladed article in a public place, and possession of a controlled class B drug.
Borough Commander for Tandridge, Lyndsey Whatley said: “We understand that this would have been extremely distressing for anyone who witnessed the incident. We are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident, and we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.
“I would like to thank the members of the public who called us, we have already received a number of pieces of footage and would ask if anyone knows anything about what happened or has any footage that may assist with our investigation, that they contact us.”
A scene guard was in place on Warlingham Green while officers carried out forensic enquiries. There will be a continued police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries. Please speak to officers if you have any concerns.
